In Fal Doram, also called as the great empire of Inkredia, a conspiracy begins to unfold. The first step is an easy one – kill a simple, villager named Luwan. When Luwan suddenly faces an enemy straight out of the folklore, he is left dumbfounded by the mystery why they are after him. As he makes a daring run to survive, journeying through the unknown world outside his village, new mysteries emerge, some closely concerning him. Riddled with questions and hunted by legendary assassins, and by the nonhumans made of the darkest element in the nature, Luwan makes a dangerous journey through the incredible empire of Inkredia.
Inkredia is the story of young boy called Luwan who lived in a small town of Brida in the kingdom of Fal Doram. In this fantasy world of Inkredia there exists a lot of magical beings, shape shifters and creatures with dark motives. They can be summoned by people with enough power and get anything done.
Story starts with a young lad called Luwan who lives alone in a place away from the village of Brida. He collects medicinal herbs and sells them for living. He refuses the payment of tax to authorities because he was not earning well and had to runaway from his home with his sister Meg. While he was on run, he thought he was being hunted by the men of tax collector. However it soon becomes clear that there is more then what meets the eye and Luwan is being hunted by some very dangerous, dark creatures. Along with the help of his friend Kilian and sister Meg, Luwan travels across the kingdom as he is being chased, trying to solve the mystery of some messages and letters that his father left before his untimely death. Along the way, their courage, presence of mind and friendship is tested as they encounter dangerous and life threatening situations.
The protagonist of the story is Luwan. He is a young man who lives alone in a small, sparsely furnished house. He is brave and quick witted. His presence of mind is displayed during many different situations throughout the story when he or his dear ones were in grave danger. He loves his sister dearly and holds a lot of respect for her hardworking and dedicated nature. He is observant and quick learner. While in company of Kiliarn, he learns a lot of skills to become decent fighter and how to save his skin in life threatening situations. Being thrust into an unpredictable new world full of dangerous creatures who were all hunting him down, Luwan displays a tremendous amount of courage and bravery. His character is portrayed as an underdog like in most conventional fantasy stories. The one who is ordinary but is chosen for an adventure because he is extraordinary. He is completely unaware of it. The relatabilty of this character will appeal to the readers.
Language of the book is sophisticated and descriptive. The author uses well phrased sentences and expressions that will appeal to seasonal reader. The writing is very smooth and cohesive. The author is descriptive in writing which helps to fuel the imagination while reading. It is also great bridge for beginner readers who want to try their hand at better writing.
Majority of narration is from the point of view of Luwan. But there are certain sections which are narrated by other characters too. This helps to bring the element of mystery and capture the interest of the reader. The narration is in the form of stream of consciousness and the emotions and thoughts of the narrator are expressed in the form of inner monologue.
Plot line of the story is unique and not predictable. The author have weaved a complex story line involving various mysterious creatures which dominate the story. There are many near death experiences that the protagonist and his group faces throughout the book and I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out how will they get out of it. It is a kind of story that will grip the readers till the end. The pace of the story line was a little slow and I wish there was some more progress in the plot. There were a little too many creatures for my liking and I kind of lost the pace with the number of them towards the end of the book.
This fantasy book is a great read for fantasy enthusiasts. The story line is gripping and captivating. The mystery element of the plot is very high but the climax, although shocking, was lacking in details of the story. Hence, the true test of the plot line lies in the next book of the series. The book is full of mysterious and dark creatures that excite the imagination of readers and language is smooth and descriptive for easy reading. Highly recommend for fantasy lovers!
